What is online back up?

Online back up is a method of remotely backing up business or personal data to a secure, off-site location using your existing internet connection. Back up software is installed on the PC, Mac or Server where the data is located. The software then encrypts and sends your chosen files to the off site storage location at a time and frequency set by you. If you need to retrieve your backed up data the desired files and folders can be restored with a few clicks of your mouse.

What is the initial set up process/how does it work?

If you require assistance, we will remotely install our back up software on your computer or server after which we will issue you with a username and password. One of our technicians will help you configure your first back up and walk you through the basics of our simple software application such as how to set your back up frequency and preferred time of day.

Which package should I go for?

If you are not sure how much data you need to back up, we can help you by providing a Data Size Analysis Tool. This will allow you to easily determine how much storage space you require.

What if I need to get access to my old data from a previous backup?

You simply click "Restore Files" on the Easy Backup software application, locate the remote file or folder you need to restore and then decide what location you would like to restore it to (e.g. its original location or a new location on your computer/server).

Where is the data stored?

The data is stored off-site in a leading UK data centre. Multiple copies of your data are held on at least three different devices in two distinct zones of the Data Centre. Each Data Centre Zone uses separate power and network connections.

How long is the old data kept for?

You can decide how long you want to keep the data for. Most clients keep data for 60 or 90 days.  Each week our software will check for expired data and remove it from the vault. Don't forget, after the initial backup our software will only transfer new or altered data to the vault and will only remove older versions of a new or altered file.

How is the data made secure before being sent via the web?

The data is sent using a secure internet connection and encrypted before transfer.

The password we generate will be a very strong one.  If you wish to change this for security, you can contact us and we will generate a new one for you.  We will never ask you for the password, and recommend that you never share your password with anyone not authorised to run the backup.

How long is the contract for?

The minimum contract term is three months, and requires one month's notice in the unlikely event that you want to cancel your subscription.
